About Robin’s Pots

My ceramics are mostly hand built using stoneware clay. I enjoy constructing large abstract sculptures, some with an aperture highlighted in gloss yellow. The most recent are square sectioned “Girder” sculptures curved, twisted and occasionally mounted on blocks.

There is a range of architectural bottle pots and flasks, though I am not sure when a bottle pot becomes a flask. I have developed a range of surface finishes that are increasingly deeply textured and tactile. They demand to be picked up and handled!

Having made a number of ship pots I developed the theme further with hull shapes, some small enough to sit in the palm of your hand and all featuring brightly underglazed abstract superstructures. The some large hulls sit on top of compatible slab built pedestals.

Recently I have started throwing pots again on the wheel with an emphasis on large forms. Many are altered to produce unique and dynamic forms.

The photographs show the range and diversity of my work. The pots in the Gallery are presently available. Those showing “sold” can be repeated. If there are pots in the archive that interest you they can be commissioned, use the number as reference.
